Learn a Song in a Hurry by Betty Hoffmann |
||
| •Write
all the words of a song on the chalkboard. •Children read the words, noticing rhymes. •Discuss words of which they do not know the meaning. •Teacher sings the song while the children silently read along. •The children sing with the teacher. •Students walk around the room while singing the song. •Teacher: If I erase a word, can you still sing the song? (Erase rhyming words first.) Students sing the song. •Let’s erase another word and sing the song again. •Teacher: Can you sing it if we erase two more words? That’s four words gone! •Then children are invited to erase a word or suggest one to be erased. •The activity can continue until all the words are erased and the song is learned! |
